Refreshing...

March 5, 2011

Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

For Christmas my children got these cool little things in their stockings; they were sponges in the shape of pirates and princesses and when we put them in water, they expanded to well over three times their size. Our hearts are like those toys, as we live our lives, and let’s face it, life is hard, life is painful, life can even sometimes be brutal; life drains our hearts till it is small and shriveled and can’t hold anything else. Yet, as we daily pour God’s Word into it; it grows and grows and expands. A funny things happens after that, life still has its problems, and still hurts, yet, we are able to manage. We are able to handle the problems and not break under the strain. There’s a funny thing about peace; peace isn’t the absence of problems, instead, it’s a calm in the midst of your problems.
