2:14 Glory to God in the highest and on earth
peace good will toward men
This
is what the angels declared to the shepherds. Which in itself is a miraculous event,
I mean you are calmly tending your sheep just like an average night, and Pow! out
come a host of angels. Yet, what I find wondrous about this statement is the
last part of it. “…good will toward men” the good will here is speaking about
God’s Sovereign good pleasure. God gives us His peace not as a reward for some
good thing we have done, and not because we deserve it. He gives His peace as a
gift to those who are in His will. In those of whom He finds pleasure. How
wonderful a feeling to know that I can enjoy that peace!
