Peter 2:25-3:1
V1
Likewise, wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if some do not
obey the word, they may be won by the conduct of their wives.
There
is so much in this verse. So many things one could say about it. Many things
the world simply doesn’t understand and therefore rails against, like
submission. Yet, that’s not what I immediately thought when I read this verse. Obviously,
this verse is dealing with submitting to your husband, and everything that
entails, but it also addresses something that has been a theme in my quiet
times lately. Our conduct, here God’s word tells us that our conduct could
possibly bring a lost person to Him. Wow, that’s heavy right. To think that the
way I act could have so much influence on someone. We know this is true; it’s
partly why there are so many scriptures telling us how to act and not act. How
we live our lives matter. The words we use matter. We do not live in a world
full of blind and deaf people who take no notice of the things we do. Nope we,
especially believers, live in a world where people constantly watch us. True,
they are probably hoping we fail, but they are watching. What would happen if
instead of showing them us, we showed them Christ?
