It all comes back to taxes! Funny how God can use anything to bring about His will and fulfill His promises. It had been decreed that the Messiah would come from the City of David. In order for Rome to collect the proper amount of taxes it need to know exactly how many people lived in it. This of course necessitated a census.  So, at right about nine months pregnant Mary and Joseph set out for a 3 day journey. Having been right about nine months pregnant three times in my life I can assure you that the very last thing Mary probably wanted to do at this time in her life is travel three days on a donkey. Yet, like in many things in our lives God requires us to do things that we would probably prefer not to do, but at the same time we are called to be obedient. May I remember that…
