When He seeks, what will He find??

July 10, 2014
Psalm 12-14
14:2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God

We can go on and on, speak for days of the godlessness we see around us. For sure it is prevalent. However, if we take it to a more personal level and really that all we can absolutely control, our personal relationship and walk with God; what would God see if He were to look down upon us. Would He at least find one person seeking after Him; would He find you??

helper to the helpless...

July 9, 2014
Psalm 10&11
10:14 …to you the helpless commits themselves and you have been the helper to the fatherless

When we look around, whether it’s in more of a world-view way or just in our immediate areas, it’s easy to see that most, if not all, the people we encounter are only out to please themselves. Most have no care whom they trample on in order to get to the top, or even more prevalent at times, to get their kid to the top. We have all experienced this, seen this or maybe in a moment of weakness committed this act of supreme selfishness. What are we to do? The world can in fact be a dark and dangerous place. It can be a place where danger lurks at every corner. Psalm 10 is in fact a chapter dedicated to that. It’s a chapter that tells of how the wicked seek to destroy the helpless. God in His infinite wisdom has provided us with a helper, Himself, could we have ever asked for a better one? Nope…

seeking or glancing...

July 8, 2014
Psalm 9
V 10 And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, have not forsaken those who seek you

To seek is defined as “to go in search of—to try to discover. This is more than merely looking around haphazardly for something. When we tell our children (one in particular is worse than the others) to look for something we can rest assured that there was no serious “seeking” taking place, at the most maybe a brief glance. We can’t find God by glancing at Him through the lens of the world. We have to seek Him in His word. He isn’t hiding by any means; He is always readily available, but He won’t share our attention with the world. If we are truly seeking Him, searching for Him, we will find Him and He will never forsake those who do.

being judged...

July 7, 2014
Psalm 7 & 8
Psalm 7:8 The lord judge the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me

What a bold prayer that is? To ask God to judge you; to willingly set yourself up for God to look upon your life and find you lacking or righteous. I’m not sure, for me, this would always be a wise prayer. In fact, I know that it wouldn’t. For one thing I firmly believe in the judgment of God. I believe that He judges and disciplines His children. I believe that if I ask God to judge me He will and to be honest I wouldn’t escape discipline most days. To be sure, any good in me at all is the result of the indwelling Holy Spirit but I know that I allow my sin to overwhelm and quiet the working power of the Holy Spirit. To be able to pray this prayer and know that God would find me righteous is my hope…what I am working toward.

entering in...

July 2, 2014
Psalm 5 & 6
5:7 but I through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house

I will enter your house. I certainly don’t deserve to enter into it; with no doubt the door to your house should be bared to me. Yet, your love in choosing me allows me entrance. Because of that I will do what verse 3 of chapter 5 tells me, “O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.” I will live my life as a sacrifice to you. I will come to you each day in the morning and sing praises to you, My God, not because I am worthy but because You are.

set apart...

July 1, 2014
Psalm 3 & 4
3:8 Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people
4:3 But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself

I thank you Lord for my salvation. I thank You that I can rest because You hold me. I thank You that I can weep and be comforted. I thank You that I can stray and be returned with thanksgiving. I thank You that You are more than I will or could ever be. I thank You that I am Yours because I would have never chosen You had You not chose me first.
