"Woe..."

January 11, 2013
Isaiah 23:1 Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! Declares the Lord

“To whom much is given much will be expected…” to those that God gives the responsibility to pastor His churches He expects great things from them. He expects those shepherds to pour their lives into their flock. Is this an easy thing? Oh, I’m absolutely sure that it is not. Yet, to those who are called to this duty; a great help is given to them. They do not carry out their work alone. It is also a work that they, pastors, are held to a high standard. If they abuse the office…”Woe, to them…”. Personally I think that if God’s word ever says the word “Woe” I don’t want to be guilty of whatever it’s referring to!

in His arms...

January 8, 2013
Isaiah 40:11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry the in his bosom and gently lead those that are with young

Do we get it? We are “the lambs” we are the ones He will carry at His bosom. Do we really absorb that into our daily life? We should but I’m sure that we do not. We don’t get the magnitude of that. How sad that it is lost to us.

We are His...

January 7, 2013
Psalm 100:3 Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his, we are his people and the sheep of his pasture

What more do we really need in life than to know that we are His? We belong to the God who created the earth. We belong to the Savior who raised people from the dead, who cured incurable diseases, who battled demons and won. We belong to Him. We are His sheep. He watches over and He keeps us safe.

He gives...

January 4, 2013
Psalm 95:7  For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand

He is my God. What more could I even need in life? Nothing, really, yet He gives us so much more. He takes care of every need of my heart, and blesses us with way more than my needs. He is the desire of my heart.

thanking the shepherd...

January 3, 2013
Psalm 79:13 But we your people and sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever, from generation to generation

I am so thankful for what My Shepherd does for me every day. His blessings are numerous and some of them sadly go by without my even acknowledging them. I have learned that sheep (the animals) need constant attention and care from their shepherd. They need to be lead. They need to be fed. They need to be protected. I am thankful that My Shepherd does the same thing for me.

my Shepherd...

January 2, 2013
Psalm 80:1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock! You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.

**Last Sunday our Pastor, Bro. Don, began a series of messages on Psalm 23. He gave us a list of some other scripture where the relationship between sheep/shepherd are mentioned. In my quiet times for a while I will be going through them.**

I am forever thankful that You are the “Shepherd” that leads me. I am thankful that I can be confident in every step I take. I know that every place I put my feet upon is somewhere that You have lead me to, and I am also confident that you have made sure that no harm can come to me in all the places I go.
