Isaiah
5:13 Therefore my people go into exile for
lack of knowledge, their honored men go hungry and their multitude is parched
with thirst.
I’m
certain that this verse could be taken literally. Isaiah could be telling a
tale of physical hunger and physical thirst. Yet, I don’t think so. I think
that he is telling a tale of spiritual hunger and thirst. Which is of course
due to the fact that they didn’t know God or His works; they never took the
time to learn. Jesus says that He is the water that will never leave you
thirsty. He says that He is the bread of life. Unless we are “ingesting” a
steady diet of His words, we will find ourselves hungry and thirsty too. Or
worse we will find ourselves becoming “full” on other things of the world.
