Proverbs
20:4 The sluggard does not plow in the autumn; he will seek at harvest and have
nothing
We
all want things: we want material things, we want our relationships to work in
certain ways, we want our jobs to be successful, we want our families to be
close to each other, we want our body’s to look a certain way. We want a lot of
things. Yet, sometimes we just expect those things to just happen. We just
expect our children will be obedient without putting any time into disciplining
them properly. We all have an image we want our bodies to look like, but we
rarely are willing to put any effort into diet and exercise to see that it
happens. We would much rather take a pill and continue to eat all we want. We
all want the next best “whatever” out there but many times aren’t willing to
work to get it. God's word tells us that whatever we want we have to work for.
Many times we have to work a long time before we ever see any progress toward
our goals. We can’t give up just because it becomes difficult. Anything worth
having is worth working for!
