Peter 2:1 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all
slander
To
“put away” means to give up or to never do it again, maybe even to forget about
it. Like when we are reorganizing our closets and you know the stuff that you
want to keep but you don’t necessarily have a specific place for, so you end up
sticking it up high on the corner of a shelf; that’s what I mean. Eventually we
forget about it being up there; it’s still available for us to use if we think
about it or see it again, but mostly it just sits collecting dust. Our bad
habits of sin will never truly be gone till we reach Heaven, but we don’t have
to pull them out and use them everyday! We can, and should, “put away” them on
a shelf in the closet of our minds!
