What does it cost me?

September 30, 2013
1 Chronicles 21:24 “…Or offer a burnt offering which cost me nothing.”

I think about this verse a lot. I often wonder how guilty of this I am. I wonder how often I am satisfied with giving God far less than He deserves. He deserves my all, my everything but am I giving it? Am I truly giving Him my everything? The children of Israel were called to give up to God many sacrifices. Each of these sacrifices was to be from the best of what they had. We are called to do the same. We are to tithe whether we want to or not. We are to serve; whether it is in an area we enjoy or not. We are called to be workers in our home (if we are women) whether we work outside our home or not. We are called to raise our children in the “fear and admonition of the Lord”. Regardless of what we “want” to do. Quiet frankly, what we want to do has very little to do with things.

Look in the mirror...

Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle

Although no one is called to be apostles anymore, we are called to be set apart. We are called to be different. We are called to be His. If, when we look at our lives, we don’t see anything different looking back at us. If we look like the world around us, perhaps we need to reexamine our lives and see where we are. I like reading about Paul. There is no way that anyone can look at Paul and not see different. Not see that he was totally set apart from the world around him. Are we? Am I?
